A man from Britain named Jamie Harron has been arrested and sentenced to 30 days in jail for being drunk in Dubai. While drinking in designated areas such as restaurants and bars is not illegal, it is illegal to be drunk in public. Wednesday he recorded a video message for his loved ones and supporters.

The 30 day sentence for being drunk in public may be the least of Harron's concerns, the 27-year-old Scotland native is facing an additional charge for touching a man's hips in a bar. The victim has dropped his complaint against Harron but he is still facing up to three years in prison for the offense.

Harron tells his friends and family in the video, "I would like to say a heartfelt thank you to all the people around the world who have supported me in this awful time for me and my family. Your good wishes mean an awful lot, and they keep me hopeful for the future. All I want is to be back in Scotland with my friends and family, sleeping safe in my own bed. Love to you all, and thanks again. I’ll hopefully see you soon."
Harron's parents also face prosecution if they try to visit their son for speaking out against the country publicly. The charges of assault stem from contact Harron had with Emad Tabaza, a German businessman who called the police in Dubai and claimed that Harron had been 'very drunk' and 'repeatedly' touched him.
Being Gay in Saudi Arabia is a criminal offense and homosexuals are often tortured and killed under the country's strict Sharia Law.
