Knoxville Police Department reported an incident involving a man who’s suspected of attempted second degree murder after he assaulted his mother and others before he threatened to cut the baby out of a pregnant woman. The police arrested Dominick Ratliff at a Mechanicsville home on Saturday.
According to the report, Ratliff went to his mother's house at 213 Cansler Avenue around 6:30 p.m. and started a disturbance. The mother reported that he became angry because she wouldn’t bring his friends into the home.
The mother reported that she was shoved into the apartment and grabbed by the hair shortly before she fainted. Reports from witnesses indicate that he punched her and chocked her while she was unconscious, to make matters worse, the guy was yelling "I'm going to kill you, b****."
Several people tried to step in and stop Ratliff from unleashing more damage, but one woman was punched several times in the face, and another woman that was pregnant was slapped in the face before Ratliff went into the kitchen to get a steak knife.
The authorities revealed that Ratliff pointed the knife at everyone cornered in the residence as he threatened to kill everyone and then cut the baby out of the pregnant woman's stomach. At that moment, the suspect threw the knife down and walked outside before driving off with two occupants.
The police officer who responded after the incident said he noticed swelling on the back of the mother's head and bruises on others. The police managed to arrest Ratliff on Saturday at his mother's house.
A K-9 sniffed and found 37 grams of crystal methamphetamine in two bags that were hidden in his car. After questioning him, Ratliff said he did not use meth and that he had recently paid for his truck with cash. He currently faces charges of attempted second degree murder, multiple counts of aggravated domestic assault, and possession of meth with intent to sell in a zone that’s drug free.
