Washington Man Drowns 6-Year-Old with Autism, Leaves Body in Dumpster

Authorities in Lynnwood, Washington say that a man believed to be relative of an autistic child has confessed to his horrific murder.

The suspect, a 19-year-old male from Kerville, Texas has now been booked into the Snohomish County Jail for first degree murder charges, although his name hasn't been released until after he's formally arraigned on charges in a courtroom as per Washington laws.

The corpse 6-year-old Dayvid Pakko was found disposed of in a dumpster near the family's apartment complex in the 15700 block of 44th Avenue West in Lynnwood.

Sheriff's office spokeswoman Shari Ireton said Pakko had stayed home from school on Monday because he was feeling ill, and he was left with the 19-year-old who's now in custody while the mother of Dayvid was at work.

The Principal of of the Beverly Elementary School in Lynnwood, Danielle Sanders, where Pakko attended first grade released a statement to parents and students about the tragedy of the death involving a fellow classmate.

”Dayvid was a vivacious, loving, determined 6-year-old who will be missed by his fellow first-graders, as well as classmates across all grades. His untimely death has reached the hearts of many throughout the region.”

Over 100 local volunteers had assisted in the search for the young boy before he was found in the trash in what was clearly a homicide.

The suspect during interrogation admitted to Detectives that he filled a bathtub with running water, while holding Dayvid beneath it forcefully drowning the autistic child.

He then claimed he changed the boy's clothes before wrapping him up inside of a blanket and placing his lifeless body inside of a cardboard box that he dragged to the dumpster in an effort to hide the corpse.

Authorities have yet to announce a motive behind the crimes but say they're shocked that someone so young is capable of doing this to an innocent child albeit one he's related to.

The official Sheriff's Office Press Release said the following:

"On 10/16/17, between the approximate hours of 1400 and 1500 hours, a six year old male, D.P. was left in the care of 19 year old [name redacted] at Bristol Square Apartments … (in) Lynnwood," the Sheriff's Office said.

"[name redacted] admitted, during that time, to filling a bathtub with water with the intention of drowning and killing D.P. [name redacted] admitted to calling D.P. to the bathroom, picking him up and placing him face down in the water, and holding D.P.’s head underneath the water while D.P. struggled for approximately 30 seconds before becoming still.

"[name redacted] said he left D.P. face down in the water for approximately six minutes. He did not provide life saving measures on D.P. [name redacted] changed his clothing, wrapped D.P.’s body in a blanket and placed him in a cardboard box, which he used to dispose D.P.’s body in the nearest garbage dumpster. D.P. was determined to be deceased by paramedics on scene approximately 12 hours after his initial disappearance," the Sheriff's Office said.

Several neighbors who helped search for the boy say they are also looking for answers as to how someone could do this to an autistic child.

“I don’t want to ever feel what I am feeling again because it’s horrible what’s happened,” said neighbor Anthony Micallef.

It serves as a chilling reminder to beware of who you leave your children with at all times and to hold them close; because you never know when it will be the last time you get to see them.
