The woman in Atlanta who came home to find her two toddlers aged 2 and 1, dead has been charged for the little boys’ deaths. The eldest of the siblings, a 3-year-old boy survived.
The latest revelation in the astounding case is that the mother identified as Lamora Williams, 24, may have been struggling with mental issues all her life. Williams’ own mother made the disclosure.
Williams’ mother, Brenda, shared to local media that she just visited her daughter in jail and told the authorities to put her daughter on suicide watch because “she’s gonna kill herself.”
The father of the young boys, Jameel Penn told the media that he learned about the tragic incident through Williams herself who made a video call to him and showed the harrowing scene to him of their children’s dead bodies.
Penn said: “It was like a real horror movie. It was Friday the 13th. When I saw my kid, how I saw my kid, that’s when I knew what was going on.”
Williams told the police on Friday night that she left the kids with a relative at around noon. She said she returned home late in the evening to find the children dead. The police have since refuted such story of Williams.
A photo obtained by WSB-TV also shows an oven taken from Williams’ apartment. Police say that the two boys named Ja’ karter and Ke ‘yaunte, had obvious injuries, including burns.
The three-year-old eldest of the children and the only survivor told the police that he saw their mother kill his brothers.
Williams‘ neighbors also expressed disbelief and grief for what happened. They told the local media that Williams’ apartment “smelled like death” - something that might indicate that the bodies may have been inside for a few days before Williams reported the incident.
A resident expressed disbelief, too, that babies aged 2 and 1 can get themselves inside an oven.
Williams’ sister, Tabitha Hollingsworth, thinks the deaths of her nephews could have been prevented. She also validates her mother’s claim that Williams has mental issues.
Hollingsworth said: “This was something we saw that could possibly happen. She’s had issues from a baby. Issues my mom tried to address with the state of Georgia.
Williams will make her first court appearance on Monday.
