As winds died down and temperatures dropped, firefighters finally got a break as they gained momentum of their own against the raging blazes. Finally the relentless speed at which the fires have spread is slowly giving exhausted firefighters the opportunity to rest for a few hours as the winds are expected to remain mostly calm on Sunday. California Fire Officials say the massive Tubbs and Atlas fires are both more than 50% contained. The progress has allowed some of the missing people to be located and identified but the death still has risen to 40 as deceased remains are also found. Other fires, such as Nuns fire, is around 25% contained.

Two victims who have lost their homes are Daniel Crowell and his 9-year-old daughter, Iris. Crowell and his daughter have rented a van and filled it to the ceiling with donated boxes of toiletries, gallons of water and other supplies which they are distributing to other victims of the fires in Santa Rosa. 43-year-old Crowell said in an interview, "I felt helpless, and it felt like the best thing to do when you feel helpless is to help others."
