Investigators from the Caroline County, Virginia Sheriff's Office say they've conducted an undercover investigation into a drug trafficking network for several months which finally resulted in a massive drug raid.
During the course of the investigation Sheriff's Deputies combined with DEA and local law enforcement were trying to find the source of the mysterious and deadly drug combination known as “Gray Death”.
Gray Death is a concoction of opioids in which highly potent Fentanyl, Heroin, Carfentanyl, and the Synthetic Opioid U-47700 are combined with other chemicals to make an extremely deadly drug that is abused by high tolerance opiate addicts.
The Opioid cocktail has become prevalent all across the East Coast and has been found in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Virginia, Florida, Georgia, and the Carolinas.
During the raid undercover agents found over $10,000 of the drug alongside paraphernalia such as digital scales and packaging to distribute the narcotic blend alongside over $2,000 in cash.
Authorities arrested 36 year old Richard Elmore and his wife 33 year old Lisa Elmore of Ruther Glen; as well as 38 year old Nathan Howard and 34 year old Valerie Colby both of Fredericksburg.
The agencies are hoping that by taking down these mid level distributors they can help uncover the source of the deadly concoctions which are spreading across the East Coast taking thousands of lives.
The drug comes in various forms but most often is found to be both gray and powdery, as well as deadly but appears as if it's a chunk of concrete before it's broken down; hence the name.
The Sheriff’s Office said the drug is much stronger than heroin and has caused thousands of overdoses.
It can be deadly in very small doses, putting users and emergency crews alike at risk of overdosing, according to authorities.
