Trump Praises Dallas Cowboys’ Jerry Jones

President Donald Trump took to Twitter to praise Dallas Cowboys owner, Mr. Jerry Jones after Mr. Jones had spoken out in support of Vice President Pence walking out of the 49ers-Colts game as players had once again refused to respect the US flag and anthem.

President Trump wrote: A big salute to Jerry Jones, owner of the Dallas Cowboys, who will BENCH players who disrespect our Flag. "Stand for Anthem or sit for the game!"

Mr. Jones said Sunday that his players had received a clear message: “If we are disrespecting the flag, then we won’t play.”

The US President at the same time questioned the tax breaks that the NFL teams got, writing: “Why is the NFL getting massive tax breaks while at the same time disrespecting our Anthem, Flag, and Country? Change tax law!”

Meanwhile, NFL ratings continued to slip over the weekend as their flagship, the ‘Sunday Night Football’ game fell to the lowest levels of this season.

Deadline, which has been tracking NFL ratings, wrote about the Sunday Night Football game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Houston Texans: “In a seemingly ever-escalating political atmosphere for the ratings-battered league, that marks a 3% dip from last week’s Sunday Night Football when the Seattle Seahawks beat the Indianapolis Colts 46-18. That is also a season-low for SNF in a season that has been mired in controversy and rating decline.”

Ever since President Trump called for a ban of the NFL as long as players continue to protest, the ratings have plummeted into free fall. Ticket sales, merchandise, and even television viewership are all way down whilst Youtube and Facebook are full of videos showing angry fans burning their merchandise as they are upset with the disrespect shown by some of the players towards the US flag and anthem.

Alongside the Dallas Cowboys, the Miami Dolphins also came out over the weekend saying that their players will all stand during the 'Star-Spangled Banner.'
