The shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri has sparked an extreme reaction from members of the African-American community. These "black identity extremists" have organized to bring about lethal attacks on police officers solely for the purpose of "justice" according to an explosive new report released by the FBI.
The report details how "it is very likely BIEs proactively target police and openly identify and justify their actions with social-political agendas commensurate with their perceived injustices against African Americans .."
The FBI identified a single shooting as inspiring a trend, the shooting death of 18-year-old Michael Brown after he robbed a Ferguson gas station. Brown struggled with white police officer Darren Wilson and Wilson ultimately used his service weapon to deal lethal rounds and stop Brown. Critics claim this was an unjustified case of police brutality although Wilson was cleared of doing anything wrong. Wilson resigned shortly after in November 2014.

The FBI's report carefully examines causes, motivation and any potential for violence of black identity extremism in the report. "It is very likely that BIEs’ perceptions of unjust treatment of African Americans and the perceived unchallenged illegitimate actions of law enforcement will inspire premeditated attacks against law enforcement over the next year,” the report said. “It is very likely additional controversial police shootings of African Americans and the associated legal proceedings will continue to serve as drivers for violence against law enforcement."
One man's deadly acts ended in the death of five law enforcement officers in Dallas on July 7, 2016, in response to two recent deadly shootings of black men. One unnamed source of the Guardian described how as a former senior official from the Department of Homeland Security saying that the category "black identity extremist" was troubling. Others say that the FBI is doing its job by sounding the alarm about a dangerous trend that seems to be escalating.
A former Las Vegas law enforcement official who is now a spokesman for Blue Lives Matter said the rising number of ambush attacks on police is having an alarming effect, "Police are not being as aggressive because of the political climate," he said. "There's been a dramatic decrease in proactive policing.
