After that, several witnesses attempted to surround the black BMW and prevent the drivers escape. That is when police arrived and approached the vehicle demanding the driver to get out of the car. Instead of getting out, the woman behind the wheel punched the throttle and ran over the officer approaching her vehicle. Miguel Garcia witnessed the whole event, "One of the cops was in front of the car and when they were yelling at her to get out of the car, she just started the car again." That is when the other officers at the scene opened fire on the fleeing vehicle hitting the woman driving.
There were no other occupants in the suspect's vehicle and the driver was taken to the hospital where she died from gunshot wounds. The officer and the woman was also taken to the hospital, "Our officer who was injured, we know he lost consciousness at the scene for a period of time. He is now at the hospital. He is stable and alert but he is being treated for his head injury and undetermined at this time internal injuries."
