Saudi Palace Attacked, 2 Guards and Assailant Dead

Today's events were anything but Peaceful at Jeddah's Peace Palace in Saudi Arabia. Two Saudi guards were shot dead earlier today with three others injured at the Royal palace. A man, who has been identified as Mansour al-Amri, approached the palace and opened fire. This is according to a statement from the interior ministry, carried by state news. The gunman, a 28-year-old Saudi national made his way to a checkpoint outside the western gate to the Peace Palace in Jeddah. This occurs during Saudi King Salman's trip to Russia.

Recently, upon arrival in Russia, King Salman's golden escalator malfunctioned. The statement did not explain the whereabouts and condition of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Some recent state news had reported him in or near Jeddah. After the assailant was shot security forces retrieved Kalashnikov rifles and petrol bombs the suspect had in his possession.

Oddly, the shooter had no criminal record or currently known connection to any extremist groups. This, according to Interior Ministry spokesman Mansour al-Turki on al-Arabiya television. Motive, as in the Las Vegas shooting, is still being sought. Interestingly, Lockheed (where the Vegas shooter had worked as an internal auditor), was involved in a $100 Billion arms deal. Currently Salman is talking to Putin about further building the arsenal by acquiring S-400 anti-aircraft missiles.

This happens just two days after <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/storyline/isis-terror/saudi-arabia-says-it-dismantles-isis-cell-capital-planning-attack-n808196a>proposed ISIS attack on the Defense Ministry in Riyadh was foiled.
