Identity Politics Eats Itself

I'm going to start with an oldie but a goodie. Just before Spring this year a group of Transgender Antifa seized the stage from a Radical Third Wave Feminist at his Unitarian Universalist church to accuse him of being a "TERF." TERF means "trans-exclusionary radical feminist." In addition to being a TERF though, Robert Jensen is also part of the Deep Green Resistance. Deep Green is firmly anti-technology and view trans women as just men with some tech upgrades allowing them to "simulate" women.

This doesn't sit well with the RATPAC. <a href="http://www.redspark.nu/en/proletarian-feminism/ratpac-atx-regarding-the-disruption-of-robert-jensen/">RATPAC are the Revolutionary Alliance of Trans People Against Capitalism,</a> the trans auxiliary of the [Maoist] Red Guard Austin. They seized the stage at Jensen's event to attack and "deplatform" him in the Austin UU church. All this to show "solidarity with the LGBT proletariat."

This is just an example of the ridiculous extent of the wars within wars arising from identity politics. Even many on the far left are opposed to the toxic and divisive aspects of identity politics. In a write-up <a href="

">Jim Goad mentions some great examples</a> from mainstream media pointing this out. In popular Jewish magazine <i>Forward</i>, Daniel Greenfield's "Stop hating white peole and maybe they'll vote for you" points out that racism may not have been a factor for Trump voters. Perhaps, he offers, they didn't vote Democrat because "People won't vote for you if you hate them." Then there's the <i>New York Times</i> mentioning "liberalism has slipped into kind of a moral panic about racial, gender and sexual identity."

Moral panic is an interesting term to use. The left has long argued it is the Conservatives who are trying to "legislate morality" but as Goad points out in his most recent book, <i>The New Church Ladies</i> it's SJW's who have taken the place of the religious right in attempting to legislate (and by other means enforce) the morality of the populace.

This opinion is supported by African American author Carol Swain who blames the growth of "anti-white" identity politics for the rise in popularity of the Alt-Right.

For now identity politics seems more than willing to eat itself alive. Given enough chance to thrive and grow it very well may eat us all.
