Police are asking for the public’s help to find a 14-year old who went missing just six days after having seen his father gunned down.
Jacob Caldwell, 14 years old and the youngest of 3 sons, went missing over a month ago, on the night he had attended his father’s funeral. The police description says he’s a white male, 5'2", 100 pounds with light blonde hair and blue eyes. Young Jacob was last seen wearing grey sweatpants and a long-sleeve blue shirt that said 'Vineyard Vines'.
Detective Lesley Stayer declared that he is quite concerned about the boy’s wellbeing as he had witnessed his father’s shooting at Riverside just six days before, and there is no idea as to how the boy is processing this.
His father, Mr. Robert Caldwell, was fatally shot the afternoon of August 15th when stepping outside an office building at Linden Avenue and Woodman Drive together with his 3 boys.
Detective Stayer added that the boy’s mother had been uncooperative in the search for her son and that he believes someone must be helping the boy to stay hidden because a 14-year old ‘can not stay out on the streets on his own for that long’.
The suspected shooter, Mr. Sterling H. Roberts, is currently in a South Carolina jail waiting to be extradited to Ohio.
South Carolina police officer Mr. Murray Glenn commented on his arrest: "During the incident, Roberts pointed the rifle at several bystanders in the area, which resulted in additional charges. It was learned after his arrest that Roberts was wanted out of Dayton, Ohio, for weapons violations. If Ohio wants him, they’re welcome to him. Hopefully, he gets a sentence that’s appropriate for the types of crimes he’s accused of.”
The Caldwell family has refused to speak publicly about the case.
The boy’s mother, Tawnney Thomas, did organize an online fundraiser entitled “Find Jacob and get boys home”, so far she obtained $1,245 of her $5,000 goal.
