Tragedy as Missing Florida Teenager Found Dead Near Destin

A massive search for a missing Florida teenager has come to a tragic end, according to Deputies at the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office.

A widespread air and ground operation was performed by Okaloosa County Sheriff's Deputies in the areas south of the Marler Bridge in Destin, along the west jetties and beyond the surrounding regions for the missing 14 year old Conner Bartlett who was described as being 6’ and having blonde hair and blue eyes.

Additional resources, including Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office School Resource Officers and their K9 Teams, had came in to assist along with the Destin and Okaloosa Island Fire Departments, the Coast Guard, Fish and Wildlife, and Eglin. The Walton County Sheriff’s Office and Florida Wildlife Control provided helicopters to scan the area from above.

Authorities said they had believed the teenager was “missing and endangered” and that he may have been armed as well but didn't allude to what they meant by endangered.

However that's all come to an end after the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office posted they've located the child's corpse onto their Facebook.

According to a press release from the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, “Tragically the body of a missing and endangered Destin teenager who was the subject of a massive search earlier today was located in a beach area west of the Destin jetties around 6:30 this evening. The OCSO is conducting a death investigation and asks that the public refrain from approaching the scene.”

There has been no word yet as to a cause of death for the fourteen year old, nor has the family given a statement at this time.

A terrible end to an already sad story. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family.
