Kim Jong-Un Engineered His Brother’s Assassination To “Horrify the World”

Now, it can be told. North Korean mad leader Kim Jong-un personally engineered the assassination of his own half-brother and even made sure it would be so “gruesome” that it would “horrify the rest of the world” and also sow fear and intimidation in the hearts of his political foes.

A new report by GQ magazine says South Korean intelligence analysts are convinced that the assassination was “meticulously orchestrated” by the North Korean government for five years and was very much a part of Kim’s master plan.

Nam Sung-wook, a Korea University professor investigating the assassination told GQ magazine: “From the moment Jong nam left Macau, the North Koreans tailed him.”

Kim’s half brother, Kim Jong-nam, 45, was killed by two women who smeared him with what was later discovered to be VX nerve agent on February 13 in Kuala Lumpur International Airport in Malaysia.

Nam continued: “They had a group on his airplane. As soon as he arrived at the airport in Kuala Lumpur, another group followed him. They kept that surveillance up while he slept. Even as Jong Nam entered the terminal, he was shadowed.”

At the start, there were comments saying North Korea displayed sloppiness in the assassination of Kim Jong-nam as the two women who smeared the poison on the target were clearly visible on surveillance footage. They never covered their faces before, during and after the crime.

But Nam says now that all those were deliberate. A former member of South Korea’s spy service, he explained that Pyongyang wanted the assassination to be “viewed in public.” Nam said: “Pyongyang wanted to send a worldwide message by murdering Kim Jong Nam in the gruesome, public way.”

He added: “Pyongyang wanted to horrify the rest of the world by releasing a chemical weapon at an airport.”

The professor also offered a view of Kim Jong-un’s motivation for doing such a gruesome crime against his own brother: “Jong-un wants to reign a long time and negotiate as a superpower. The only way to do that is to keep the world in fear of his weapons. He has a grand design, and this is part of it.”

Kim Jong-nam was the eldest son of the late North Korean leader Kim Jong-il. Kim Jong-un, the half-brother, became North Korean leader when their father died six years ago, in 2011. Kim Jong-nam has always been vocal in criticizing his family’s dynastic rule of North Korea, and the ruthless ways of his brother.

The magazine article says being the eldest son, his father and dictator of North Korea used to tell Kim Jong-nam that when he grows up, he will sit where his father is seated and will be the one “to give orders”. But his brother Kim Jong-un ultimately usurped his throne. It did not help, too, that their father saw the “lack of killer instinct” in the softer and hesitant Jong-nam and his propensity to live the good life and his many brushes with the law forced the father to turn to the youngest son but more ambitious and rigid Jong-un to succeed him.

Jong-nam has from the start criticized Jong-un’s ascension to power, even once telling a Japanese journalist in an email that his brother is “a joke to the outside world.”

North Korea has refused to accept that the dead man was Kim Jong-un’s half-brother, suggesting instead that Kim Jong-Nam died of heart attack. Both the U.S. and South Korea officials said from the start that Kim Jong-un’s regime is behind the assassination.

The women involved in spraying poison on Kim Jong-Nam, Indonesian Siti Aisyah,25, and Vietnamese Doan Thi Huong, 28, said they thought they were merely participating in a reality show prank when they “attacked “ Kim

Jong-nam. They will begin their trial next week in Malaysia.
