A father in Boardman, Ohio and a neighbor have been arrested after the father decided to scare his six year old daughter by putting a clown mask on and chasing her around the neighborhood as a punishment. Vernon Barret Jr. wore the clown mask and chased his daughter causing her to run into a stranger's car, and then down the street into a stranger's apartment where she screamed at the family a clown was chasing her, according to police.

The family confirmed the girls story when they looked out their window and saw the girl's father wearing the clown mask but they did not know it was her father. Dion Santiago was at the apartment when he fired a gunshot into his yard as a warning but didn't shoot Barrett who still had the clown mask on.
The father was charged with child endangerment and inducing panic and Santiago was arrested for discharging his firearm while intoxicated according to the police report. Barrett told authorities he thought it was a better alternative to scare his daughter than spank her since her mother was currently serving time in jail for beating her and breaking four of her ribs.
