Donald Trump’s proposed ban on Muslims on the U.S. was viewed as probably one of his most controversial policies during his presidential campaign. But, as noted by the president-elect, the recent attacks in Europe prove his point about enforcing strict immigration laws for people from countries where Islam is the dominant religion.

During a recent press conference in Florida, Trump addressed the series of violent incidents that occurred in the past couple of days in Germany, Switzerland and in Turkey. These include the assassination of the Russian ambassador in Ankara, the mass murders that occurred in Berlin orchestrated by a Tunisian citizen and the shooting carried out by an individual with Ghanian descent in Zurich.

As noted by Trump, these incidents are attacks on humanity. He also noted that these could have been prevented through strict immigration control.

“You’ve known my plans all along and I’ve been proven to be right, 100-percent correct,” he told reporters according to The Hill. “What’s happening is disgraceful.”

“That’s an attack on humanity, is what it is,” he added. “It’s an attack on humanity and it’s got to be stopped.”

During the presidential campaign, Trump stressed the importance of enforcing new laws for Muslims entering the country. According to the president-elect, he wants to impose a ban on those coming from Muslim countries and areas where radicalism is prevalent. As noted by Trump, this immigration ban, as well as enforcing a national registry for all Muslims currently living in the U.S., will serve as precautionary measures to ensure the safety of all citizens.

The proposal has been criticized by democrats and liberals, who cite religious intolerance as the primary basis behind the policies. However, since many of these recent incidents have been claimed by the Islamic State, there is good reason to believe that strict immigrant laws on Muslims will be able to effectively prevent terrorist attacks in the country.
