Since the man's condition is grave, the case was taken over around 3 p.m. by homicide investigators as he is not expected to survive. Todd Griffin, a homicide Lt. with the San Diego police department said that the homeless man had suffered internal head injuries that were consistent with the skateboard attack. The victim's name has not been released and he has been placed on life support but doctors do not expect him to survive.

The police described the assailant as a white male, in his late teens to early 20's, around 6 feet tall, wearing grey shorts, a dark shirt and he has shoulder-length hair. The suspect was last seen when he flee the scene of the assault, according to investigators.
