A triathlon in Charlotte, North Carolina that was scheduled for a Trump National golf course was canceled after receiving several complaints about the name, "Tri at the Trump." The race's organizer, Chuck McAllister, announced he had changed the name of the event to "Tri for Good."
Now, this Saturday, McAllister has decided to cancel the triathlon altogether following the political tensions the name change has caused. The triathlon has taken place annually until this year and benefits children who have cancer and other terminal illnesses.
It is unfortunate an event whose purpose is giving to charity has to close down over people hating on our president's name. The website for the event still showing the countdown to the race which was scheduled to take place on October 8th. McAllister is planning on bringing the triathlon back next year in 2018.
