Death of Waterloo, Indiana Toddler Leads to Murder Charges

Following the tragic death of a toddler in July, the man responsible for drowning 4-year-old Jaheem Harris has been charged with first degree murder.

Jaheem died of blunt force trauma to his chest and abdomen. Walter Cordell Williams, 23 was arrested Thursday and bond set at $1 million.

<a href="http://wcfcourier.com/news/local/crime-and-courts/new-details-police-investigating-death-of-year-old/article_fcf00383-ef6f-5908-bbe6-babe6bf9166f.html">Witnesses heard banging and cracking from the upstairs bedroom</a> where Jaheem lived. There were also comments that Williams had a history of child abuse these allegations were confirmed in Williams’ own confession.

Williams himself dialed 911. Paramedics and police were called to teh 1113 W. Mullan Ave. residence around 11:30 to finnd Jaheem Harris unconscious in the bathtub.

Williams was already barred from contacting Jaheem’s mother when the event took place.

Court records show evidence that they had remained in contact via text messages. He was also already wanted for a warrant for failure to appear at domestic abuse classes.

Williams is arrested on the previous warrant, violation of the restraining order that resulted when he had punched Jaheem’s mother in the face October of 2016.
