Missing Hotel Employee’s Body Found in Flooded Houston Elevator

A spa manager from Houston’s Omni Hotel has been missing since the catastrophic storm of Hurricane Harvey on August 26th.

On August 27th, Jill Renick called her family fearing for her life as she was stuck inside of the elevator at the hotel where she was trying to help patrons flee the oncoming storm, saying that the elevator was stuck and beginning to fill with water.

However today there is tragic news as the corpse of Jill Renick has been found stuck inside of the elevator which she made her final call from.

After hotel workers became aware of the call that Jill was trapped they began an immediate search to try and locate the woman, but were unsuccessful in their attempts to find her.

Investigators did find her dog trapped in her fourth floor hotel room, and they found her car in a parking garage nearby.

An Omni employee recently spotted a body in the ceiling of the basement near a set of elevators, which apparently was where Jill was located when she became trapped.

“It is with heavy hearts that the search for my sister, Jill Renick, has concluded with the confirmation of her death," said Renick 62 year old sister, Pam Eslinger, in a public statement.

Miss Eslinger went on to say, "We are heartbroken. To know Jill is to have loved her. She could light up a room just by walking in and adored life. She was loved by so many people, and we will feel the impact of her absence in our hearts forever."

Kristen Cadenhead, spokeswoman at Omni's Dallas headquarters, confirmed a body - who staff presume was Renick - was found in a ceiling area above the lower level of the hotel.

"We are heartbroken and shaken by this development," Cadenhead wrote in an email to local media. "We are communicating with the family to offer whatever assistance we can, and we are arranging grief counseling to help our associates process this shocking news. This is a difficult time for us all."

Another unfortunate end to a beautiful life due to the massive storm which has terrorized Texas.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family and all of those affected by the storm.
