The 30 year old daughter of Barack Obama’s ‘go-to black leader’ Al Sharpton was arrested in New York today for attacking a cab driver and stealing his keys, according to police reports.

Ashley Sharpton, the youngest daughter of the famous civil rights activist Al Sharpton, got into a tussle with a chauffeur, snatched his keys from him and tossed them out on the stret.

She mockingly told the cabbie: “I threw your keys in the street.”

Police reports indicated that Ashley Sharpton and a group of female friends had been partying in the West Side of Manhattan and got in the cab around 1am. Without giving indications, they just told the driver: “just go, just go.”

As he was without a destination, the driver of the taxi pulled over at West 48th St and 9th Avenue and asked for clear directions of where he needed to go.

The driver demanded her: “Give me my keys back,”

At first Miss Sharpton claimed she didn’t have the keys, but when the driver went after her, she threw them out on the street.

Things got physical and according to police reports Miss Sharpton, who was filmed by one of her friends via mobile phone, punched the driver in the chest.

After this Miss Sharpton left the scene quickly. The driver informed the police and Miss Sharpton was arrested at around 3am.

Miss Sharpton had been celebrating her birthday for a couple of days now. On Thursday she had written on Twitter: “Bringing in my special day at midnight with my SB family and the Legendary Valerie Simpson (the Queen Virgo)” with the hashtags “#GodIs #Thankful#BlessedToSeeThisDay #AGSSlays30.”

Mr Al Sharpton also sent out his birthday wishes to his youngest child via a tweet: “strong black woman and committed activist. So proud to be your Dad.”

We’re not sure he’s still so proud now.
