Back in 2016, the Democrats had posted warning signs allover every social media platform you could find : Elect Trump and there would be an American carnage for sure.
Because of the revolution that was sure to follow, hate crimes, violent robberies and murders would be on the rise and surely spike over the last big number, that of 2014.
We are 8 months into first year of the Trump / Pence presidency, and those long awaited numbers are in. Bet you won’t hear any Democrats saying this but it is official; crime and murder rates for the US are down.
Repeat that. Crime and murder rates for the US are down.
The newest report by the Brennan Center, which for the past thirty years has been the most trusted source for these statistics, revealed that though there had been sharp increases in 2015 and 2016, they could now accurately point towards seeing a decrease of that said rate for 2017.
The overall crime rate is projected to decline by 1.8 percent compared to 2016, violent crime is down close to 1 percent and the murder rate had gone down by a whopping 2.5 percent.
One could assume that criminals know that there is a man above them now who will not be so lenient when it comes to sentencing.
The Brennan center said: “The violent crime rate for this year is projected to be about 1 percent above 2014’s violent crime rate, the lowest recorded since 1990.”
The murder rate meanwhile, measured for the 30 largest cities in the US, is back down to the level of 2009 and is well below historical highs. the only noticeable exception remains the city of Chicago, where murder sprees continue to peak above the US average.
Both President Donald Trump and Attorney General Jeff Sessions had warned criminals in election speeches that they would be very “tough on crime”. We can only assume that they were listening.
Wonder if the mainstream media will report these figures. Our guess is they won’t.
