Crimes against children are particularly the most heartbreaking of all, with Americans from every background disgusted by such horrifying actions.
In Louisiana, Attorney General Jeff Landry created the Cyber Crimes Unit to specifically target those who. Would use the internet to abuse children and commit atrocities such as child trafficking or child pornography and shut down pedophiles.
Yesterday, they made a successful bust against a Mamou man they say was responsible for multiple counts of child pornography.
47 year old Richard Deshotel of Mamou now faces 10 counts of Sexual Abuse Images/Videos of Children and two counts of Sexual Abuse Images and Videos of Children under the age of 13 years old.
Authorities say the pedophile was arrested and transported for Detention into the Evangeline Parish Jail, following a cooperative raid by the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation Cyber Crime Unit, Homeland Security Investigations, the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office, the Mamou Police Department, and the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Attorney General Landry is now asking the general public to offer any information they may have about the suspect who is relatively unknown and may have committed other crimes against children in the past, as is usually the case with these people.
If you or anyone you know may have been a victim of this pedophile you're asked to contact the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation at 800-256-4506 and you can remain anonymous if that's a concern as well.
“Our office and law enforcement partners will use every tool we have to locate, investigate, and arrest child predators,” Landry said. “We want to bring those who exploit our State’s children to justice.”
