Law enforcement at Southport High School in Indianapolis say they've arrested a sixteen year old student after the teen brought a handgun onto the school premises.
Authorities say they were performing a routine inspection of every student coming and leaving the premises when the school resource officer spotted the teenager pulling out the gun.
While at this time it remains unclear what the intentions of the teen were but the school resource officer says he was forced to hold the child at gunpoint until Indianapolis Metro Police Department arrived to the scene.
Indianapolis Metro says that once they arrived and performed a full search of the teenager he also had drugs in his possession.
The child will now be held in the Indianapolis Juvenile Detention Center until he can be be brought in front of a magistrate for formal. arraignment.
