Woman Demands 4k Retweets For Her Not to Abort Baby

It has become a given that social media have become so powerful and influential, yet it is still astounding and disturbing when such platforms as Twitter are being used as an unlikely “arbiter” for a huge life decision as abortion. A young woman’s Twitter post is going viral after she claimed that she is pregnant and would get an abortion if users will not heed her demand of getting enough retweets.

The woman known as Saipanting posted on Twitter the message: “4 months pregnant. 4k RTs & I won’t abort it.”

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">4 months pregnant. 4k RTs &amp; I won&#39;t abort it. <a href="https://t.co/z9lzWPuHIn">pic.twitter.com/z9lzWPuHIn</a></p>&mdash; 🇲🇵 (@saipanting) <a href="https://twitter.com/saipanting/status/900498587490144257">August 23, 2017</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

It sounded like she was just craving for attention, yet many believed her post and expressed their concern.

One simply told her “no.” Another offered a sobering piece of advice. She wrote to Saipanting: “why?ever think this happened for a reason? youre already almost half way there. you can get help & there are adoption agencies.” The girl was so affected that she kept replying to other commenters and sticking to her stand of saying no to abortion, arguing the adoption mode.

Things took an even more “interesting” and mind-boggling turn when the supposed father of the baby entered the Twitter picture, too. He expressed shock over the pregnancy of his ex-girlfriend. Even past hurts and their dirty linen were washed online for all Twitter public to feast on.

The guy wrote a message addressing Saipanting: “You told everyone I died then you sold my dog for tickets to a Lil Pump concert.”

But then just when everyone thinks it can’t get any murkier, another “fantastic” twist happened. Another girl joined the conversation and things become way too outrageous to still be believable. A girl named double z wrote a reply to the guy and said: “WTF NATAN. WHAT ABOUT OUR BABY?!?!?!?!!

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">WTF NATHAN . WHAT ABOUT OUR BABY?!?!?!! <a href="https://t.co/lqwrhFeqGe">pic.twitter.com/lqwrhFeqGe</a></p>&mdash; double z (@Zurizoltan) <a href="https://twitter.com/Zurizoltan/status/900518730626723842">August 24, 2017</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

It could not be established whether there’s truth to Saipanting being pregnant and if indeed she was considering getting an abortion. Apparently, however, enough people cared about the baby that she got her 4000 retweets “demand”.

It is possible that the whole stunt was just a Twitter gimmick by thee girl and the guy and the other girl acting as accomplices, as they are also very active on Twitter.

Whatever the truth is, the whole thing perpetrated by the girl leaves a bad taste in the mouth, however, regardless of her real condition, because she used a sensitive topic as pregnancy “news” as a means to just get retweeted - and shamelessly trivialized in the process a politically and morally-charged issue as abortion.
