Border Patrol finds Massive Cartel Smuggling Tunnel, 30 Illegals

|

In another outstanding display of exemplary patriotic service from the United States Border Patrol, a massive tunnel used to smuggle both drugs and illegal aliens has been shut down.

The United States Border Patrol in the San Diego Sector said that they have now apprehended 30 illegal aliens near the Otay Mesa port of entry.

On Saturday, Border Patrol Agents encountered a group of illegals who had apparently just been smuggled into the United States using what appears to be a human and drug trafficking cartel.

Upon search of the vicinity surrounding the location where the detention of the illegals took place, Agents spotted a massive tunnel in the ground with a ladder leading down into it.

The tunnel led all the way under the incredibly dated border fence in the area just to the north of the Otay Mesa port of entry into the United States.

Out of the 30 illegal criminals who were arrested 23 of them were Chinese Nationals, an ethnic group believed to be responsible for much of the illicit fentanyl and cocaine trafficking in America. 21 of the Chinese apprehended were men with two being females.

Included in that arrest were also seven Mexican Nationals, four of those being male and three being females.

Currently several members of the San Diego Tunnel Task Force which is an ICE Affiliate are on the scene investigating the tunnel and searching for evidence of potential drug or human trafficking leading through into the United States.

ICE posted the following in relation to tunnels into the United States on their website :

While subterranean tunnels are not a new occurrence along the California-Mexico border, they are more commonly utilized by transnational criminal organizations to smuggle narcotics. However, as this case demonstrates, law enforcement has also identified instances where such tunnels were used to facilitate human smuggling.

The probe into the newly discovered tunnel is ongoing and members of the San Diego Tunnel Task Force are coordinating closely with their law enforcement counterparts in Mexico on the investigation. Preliminarily it appears this latest tunnel may be an extension of an incomplete tunnel previously discovered and seized by Mexican authorities.
