Mystikal, a rapper from New Orleans, has turned himself in following an arrest warrant listing a charge of first-degree rape. The warrant was related to an encounter at downtown Shreveport casino last October. KSLA-TV recorded Michael Lawrence Tyler, also known by his stage name Mystikal, as he turned himself into the Caddo Correctional Center in northwest Louisiana.

DNA evidence linked Tyler, 46, and Averweone Holman, 26, to the rape in October. During the their investigation, detectives took statements from witnesses and the victim along with physical evidence linking the two men to the crime. North Louisiana Criminalistics Laboratory for DNA analysis determined their was sufficient evidence to corroborate the victim's testimony. Louisiana prosecutors obtained warrants for Tyler and Holman and bail was set at $2 million each. Holman was arrested by U.S. Marshal's Task Force in his hometown of Killeen, Texas last Friday. Police say that a friend of the victim, Tenichia Wafford, 42, tried to persuade her to drop charges against the two men. Authorities obtained a warrant for her arrest as well and she has been charged with one count of accessory after the fact to first-degree rape. Wafford's bail was set at $200,000.
This is not the Louisiana rappers first run in with the law, he served six years in prison in 2004 for sexual battery and extortion. Mystikal has had success in the music industry as far back as the mid 90's. Most recently, the rapper has collaborated with other recording artists such as Trinidad James, Lil Dicky, Birdman and Tech N9ne. His latest single 'Just A Lil Thick' was released last year and the music video has already garnered over 18 million views on YouTube.
