A woman in San Antonio, Texas has been arrested for sexually assaulting a child under her care in March this year. 18-year-old Esmeralda Marie Medellin was working as a nanny when she sexually assaulted a 4-year-old boy. Authorities became aware of the situation when the 4-year-old came forward and told his mother that Medellin had performed sex acts on him.
The boy's mother called police who arrived before Medellin left and took DNA swabs from both her and the boy. Police say the DNA test from Medellin is inconclusive but the one taken from the boy is enough to corroborate his story. The boy told how Medellin compelled him to perform sex acts on her including oral sex. The boy's identity has not been made public due to the nature of the crime. A bizarre sexual encounter of this nature is often unreported but thanks to the boy's ability to describe what had happened the girl has been caught and will face punishment for her actions.
Medellin was arrested and charged Friday with aggravated sexual assault on a child. She was booked at the Bexar County Magistrate’s Office and released on $75,000 bail. The charge of aggravated sexual assault on a child is a first-degree felony and carries a minimum sentence of up to 25 years imprisonment. Normally, an aggravated sexual assault carries a minimum prison sentence of 2-20 years imprisonment and up to a $10,000 fine, but if the victim is under 14 years old the minimum sentence is increased to 25 years.
