A planned “March on Google” organized by Jack Posobiec, an alt-lite (or “New Right” as per the recent rebrand) figurehead who, like Mike Cernovich gained some e-fame with his Pizzagate coverage during the last election cycle. According to the Mercury News, the event has been cancelled due to “credible terrorist threats.” The Mercury News article cites the press release from March On Google’s official site as well as a press release from Mountain View Police Department.

A counter-protest had already been planned in Mountain View Civic Center Plaza. The location was chosen to give ample distance between the primary protest event and the counter-protest in order to reduce possibility of brawls and violence between the two conflicting groups.

The March “is not an alt-right event” according to Posobiec and Mercury News. Those familiar with Posobiec will not be surprised he (once again like Cernovich, Paul Joseph Watson and other formerly “alt-lite” personalities) with him intentionally distancing himself from the Alt-Right and the events of Charlottesville. Free speech issues have been an important wedge driving at the fracture between what was once known as the Alt-Right/Alt-Light crowds.

According to quotes from the Police Department Press release:

“The organizers of this protest are not connected to the participants or to the events that led to the tragedy in Virginia last weekend,” police said in a release. “The Police Department has a responsibility to uphold everyone’s Constitutional right to free speech, and we want you to know that we are working with both Google and with the event planners to ensure the protest is a peaceful one.”

Posobiec’s full statement (i.e. the press release cobbled together with Mountain View’s official statement) make up the bulk of the Mercury News article that has been picked up by Zero Hedge and other sources. One thing to remember as far as this all goes, there has been no mention of any evidence the police have that this is a credible threat. In typical PR-speak, they merely “confirm” that the event has been cancelled and (adding a smidge of credibility to the claims) they mention that they will be monitoring both areas “in case.”

It’s important to remember that Posobiec is Laura Loomer’s accomplice in the staged stage rushing of Shakespeare in the Park earlier this Summer. Loomer and Posobiec are both employees of Ezra Levant’s Rebel Media. Levant/Rebel had to apologize just last June for apparently plagiarizing a video made by Unite the Right organizer Jason Kessler. As to whether or not this is just more media shenanigans from Levant & co. to quote the Tootsie-Pop voice over guy, “The world may never know.”

James Posobiec’s full statement is below:

“The Peaceful March on Google has been postponed due to credible Alt Left terrorist threats for the safety of our citizen participants.

Despite our clear and straightfoward statements denouncing bigotry and hatred, CNN and other mainstream media made malicious and false statements that our peaceful march was being organized by Nazi sympathizers.

Following the articles, credible threats from known Alt Left terrorist groups have been reported to and relevant authorities have been notified.

In one instance, an Alt Left threat was made to use an automobile to drive into our peaceful march.

We hope to hold our peaceful march in a few weeks’ time.

We look forward to the day when the human right of peaceful Free Speech is once again able to be practiced in America.

• The March on Google condemns and disavows violence, hatred, and bigotry and all groups that espouse it such as White Nationalists, KKK, Antifa, and NeoNazis.

• We will not use messages that are designed to incite anger, hate, or violence.

• We will respect the law and the police and cooperate in all matters.

• Any violation of these tenets will not be tolerated.

Is this an “Alt-Right” event? The answer is no. This is an event for First Amendment supporters from across the country, from all backgrounds, ethnicity, and walks of life. We will not tolerate any incendiary actions, messages, remarks, or gestures that go against the respectful, “open basket” spirit of the event.
