Cracker Barrel Employee Run Over In Vehicular Assault

Osceola County police in Florida are seeking the public's help in identifying the driver of a white Nissan Versa who ran over a man late last July. In an apparent road rage incident, a man followed another driver to his workplace after he was allegedly cut off in traffic and violently assaulted him by running him over. Police have released surveillance footage of the attack that left one man in the hospital.

The victim is Anthony Luis Cruz, a 29-year-old employee of the Cracker Barrel restaurant. Cruz had just arrived in the parking lot at 5:30 p.m. when the driver of the white Nissan Versa pulled up next to his car. When Cruz exited his vehicle, the driver accelerates into a grass median where Cruz was standing and runs him over. The car can be seen bumping up and down in the surveillance video as it runs over his body before tearing off down the highway.

Cruz described the assault in an interview with local news saying "he just floored it right at me and ran me over.” He was taken to Osceola Regional Hospital in Kissimmee and was treated for broken ribs, a shattered pelvis and a collapsed lung. During his interview with police, Cruz described his assailant as a white man between the ages of 40 and 50-years-old and weighing around 210-225 pounds. Police described the vehicle as a white Nissan Versa with tinted windows. The Sheriff's Office has confirmed that Cruz is in stable condition and currently recovering at home.
