A parent in Port Saint Lucie, Florida has been arrested after pointing a loaded gun at a teacher, according to police.
The incident happened at Grace Christian Academy as an enraged parent approached a self-defense instructor and alleged said “Martial arts are crap”, before pointing the gun at the teacher's head.
61 year old George Meyer went on to say, “Bang, you’re dead. No way you could have got me before I pulled it out.”
Meyer’s child is a student at the school according to investigators, and he was attending an open house at the facility when he overheard the defense instructor telling someone that a gun is not always the best choice for self-defense since it can be easily taken away, said Sgt. Frank Sabol of the Port St. Lucie Police.
Witnesses say that's when Meyer pulled out his semi-automatic handgun and pointed it at the self defense instructor saying that the weapon was “locked and loaded,” according to a police report.
Parents and children were allegedly between Meyer and the instructor when he pulled out and pointed the loaded gun at him.
The instructor also claims that earlier in the evening said to him that martial arts “are crap” and that he would kill him, which has yet to be confirmed.
Law enforcement was then called to the scene and spoke to witnesses, which led them to Meyer’s house, where they found him messing with the gun. Meyers attempted to hide the .32-caliber black Beretta when police arrived.
Meyer told police that he was discussing martial arts with the instructor and that him pulling the gun was just a demonstration of the weapon’s capabilities.
Meyer also said that there was no children or parents between him and the instructor at the time of the incident.
Investigators found that Meyer’s concealed weapon permit had expired in June of this year, according to the report.
Meyer is now charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, carrying a concealed weapon without a permit, exhibiting a firearm on school property and improper exhibition of a firearm.
