Two juvenile girls have been arrested in Danvers, Massachusetts for putting a crying baby in the refrigerator. The two girls were babysitting when they decided to film themselves put the crying infant they were responsible for inside the refrigerator. They then proceed to post the video online through the social media app Snap chat. The police of a neighboring town found out about the video and informed Danvers police of the incident who promptly made the arrest of the two girls.

Chief Patrick Ambrose of Danvers police department said: "They had been alerted to a video posted on Snapchat". In the video, the girls can clearly be seen putting the 8-month-old baby inside of a refrigerator while it cries. Ambrose said of the two babysitters "they were charged with child endangerment and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.” The investigation is still ongoing while Essex County District Attorney’s Office and the Department of Children and Families are collaborating.
This case brings attention to one of the more dangerous aspects of social media and the issue of allowing young children access to the internet. What might they be willing to do for views and public attention? Some would argue that it is dangerous to give young children cell phones connected to the internet. In this case, it was certainly a close call and fortunately, the baby is doing just fine. The two juvenile babysitters were arrested and released into their parent's custody while they await their next juvenile court date.
