26 Year-Old Fatally Stabs Two Young Boys In Violent Attack

A North Charleston family experienced an immense tragedy when a disagreement stemming from a microwave oven ended in the death of two young boys. Police say Raashid White, 26, violently attacked and stabbed his two nephews resulting in their deaths. The two victims, eight-year-old Avery and two-year-old Aiyden Martin, died at their mother's apartment last Monday. North Charleston Police received a call from the children's frantic mother that a dispute had broken out between her and her brother.

The caller describes how she is unsure what triggered the dispute but it perhaps started after a minor disagreement over a microwave. Now locked out of her apartment, she told dispatch that a mentally unstable man barricaded himself inside her apartment with her two children. The mother describes how she had been attacked by White and now she feared for her children who were screaming inside of her apartment where she was unable to get to them.

Six minutes into the call, she can be heard saying "Avery? Everything's okay, open the door okay?” the caller says. “[The children are] silent. I don't hear anything. I'm getting ready to panic sir." When first responders arrived, the two young boys had been stabbed by their uncle and died at the scene. While on the phone with dispatch, the boy's mother said that White had tried to commit suicide three times and it had been documented previously. White was charged with two counts of murder and had waived his right to a hearing in front of the bond judge according to the North Charleston police.
