Authorities in Australia were shocked by an American woman who was busted with cocaine. The woman, who was arrested at the airport, is accused of hiding cocaine in her shoes. As a result, she’ll face drug smuggling charges in Australia, as reported by the police.
The woman was arrested on Friday having traveled from Los Angeles to Sydney. According to the Australian Federal Police, the 49-year-old unidentified woman was busted after she was selected for baggage examination at Sydney International Airport.
The Australian Border Force searched her bags and found approximately two kilograms (4.4 pounds) of cocaine hidden in clothing, shoes, makeup products, and other items in her suitcase, Federal Police reported.
The Australian authorities said that suspected cocaine was also found in makeup products after the flight from Los Angeles to Sydney International Airport.
Authorities said they are testing the cocaine to determine its exact weight and purity. The woman was charged with importing a commercial quantity of a border control drug. She is scheduled to appear in court Saturday.
This arrest comes after Adelaide's Cassandra Sainsbury, 22, was arrested minutes before boarding a flight at Bogota's El Dorado International Airport with 5.8 kilograms of cocaine wrapped in plastics bags and packed within boxes of headphones on the 3 May 2017.
