Gavin Newsom Wants Mandatory Composting

Gavin Newsom is running to succeed Jerry Brown as California's Governor and is bringing into the game his self-congratulatory environmental track record and his liberal framework.

Newsom, also a former mayor told a Roseville audience that they ought to know or remember what he has previously ‘accomplished’. He said: “I was the guy who brought you the plastic bag ban in San Francisco.”

He also brought up his life-altering, mind-boggling “legacy” on composting. He said: “You thought gay marriage was controversial, we required composting in San Francisco. That was controversial. They had garbage police out there checking in my cans to make sure the egg shells were in the appropriate bin.”

Once known for his decision to distribute marriage licenses to same-sex couples, he gave a clear indication that the framework for his gubernatorial campaign is rooted in his liberal record. Take his view on health care as he stressed that he favors a “government-run program covering everyone.”

Newsom said: “At the end of the day, with all due respect, the only way we are going to have high quality, universal health care that’s affordable, or at least approximates affordability, is Medicare for all.”

He added as if incredulous: “Don’t people get this? The deeper question, though, is can we do it in California? And, legitimately that’s an open-ended question. It just is.”

Looking at the battle areas, both Salida and Rpseville are significantly redder than the moneyed and population-rich parts of the state candidates generally mine for both votes and campaign contributions. Republicans dominate Democrats by 9,371 in Roseville; a suburb that Trump relied on to carry him past Hillary Clinton by almost 7 percentage points. Modesto meanwhile has 5,288 more Democrats than Republicans, where Hillary also beat Trump by 7.5 points. The city’s elected representatives are overwhelmingly Republican.

Newsom slammed Trump in Salida while expressing his support for “sanctuary” cities that protect unauthorized immigrants. He bragged to the audience: “You are looking at the poster child for sanctuary policy.”

Newsom also discussed gas tax and his support for gun control laws. Indeed, every inch a liberal.
