Cincinnati Red’s Baseball Legend Pete Rose Accused Of Sex With Minor

In a shocking turn of events, the highly respected and glorified Cincinnati Red’s baseball legend Pete Rose is now being accused of having sex with a teenage girl under the age of sixteen.

According to the girl’s statement in Federal Court, Pete Rose had a sexual relationship with her that actually started before she turned 16 during the 1970s, the now-grown woman stated in a sworn statement filed Monday in federal court.

The testimony was filed as part of the ongoing defamation lawsuit that baseball's all-time hits leader Pete Rose filed last year against John Dowd, the man who investigated him on behalf of Major League Baseball in the late 1980s for betting on the game, which lead to his lifetime ban from the sport.

According to court documents, Rose admitted to a sexual relationship with the woman but claimed it did not begin until she was 16 and that it took place only in Ohio.

Some of the accusations stated that Pete Rose has sexual relations with the child outside of Ohio as well. Pete Rose was 34 and married with children at the time.

Pete Rose has publicly admitted that the sexual relationship with the minor did in fact occur, but now he claims that the girl was sixteen when it happened, a claim that would determine the difference between a more severe charge of pedophilia or the lesser charge of statutory rape.

"In 1973, when I was 14 or 15 years old, I received a phone call from Pete Rose of the Cincinnati Reds," the woman identified as "Jane Doe" said in Monday's filing. "Sometime after that, Pete Rose and I began meeting at a house in Cincinnati.”

"It was at that house where, before my sixteenth birthday, Pete Rose began a sexual relationship with me. This sexual relationship lasted for several years. Pete Rose also met me in locations outside of Ohio where we had sex."

Pete Rose filed the defamation lawsuit against John Dowd after Dowd said on a radio station in 2015 that Rose routinely had sex with underage girls, especially in Florida during spring training. That led Rose to filing the lawsuit last year which is now in Federal Courts.

“Michael Bertolini told us that not only did he run bets, but he ran young girls for him down in spring training. Ages 12-14,” Dowd said on WCHE 1520 AM in an interview on July 13th of 2015, referring to a longtime Rose associate. “Isn't that lovely? So that's statutory rape every time you do that. So he's just not the kind of person that I find very attractive. He's a street guy.”

Pete Rose still insists however the relationship started around 1975 and when he thought the girl was older than 16. That's the age of consent in Ohio, although it is older in states such as Florida, where Rose denies meeting with the child in. Rose also testified that he did not have sex with the girl outside of Ohio, which directly contradicts the testimony of the girl in Federal Court.

Pete Rose’s Attorney maintains this is somehow a victory for him, however I fail to see how admitting to having sexual relations with a minor child, even if she was 16, when you're a 34 year old man, does anything but continue to smear your name and make people further despise you.

Many in Cincinnati who thought Pete Rose was given an unfair shake for many years, are now washing their hands clean of him amidst these new accusations.

Another blow in a career marked in shame, and seemingly Pete Rose thinks that because the girl was sixteen, versus her being the age of fifteen or fourteen, a claim in which he sticks by saying he was “told she was sixteen”, somehow makes this any better. It does not Pete, and it still makes you a perverted child sexual predator.
