New reports are coming in that an two heavily armed Chinese fighter jets have intercepted a United States spy plane.
The United States aircraft was reported to have been “forced to take evasive action in order to avoid a collision” mid-air.
Tensions are already incoherently rising between the two economic giants, especially over China's refusal to stop expanding its military into international waters in the South Pacific.
What's being reported as two individual Chinese J-10 jets, are alleged to have came within 300 feet of an American EP-3 plane over the East China Sea, in a broad show of force from China.
“There are intercepts that occur in international airspace regularly, and the vast majority of them are conducted in a safe manner.” Pentagon spokesman Captain Jeff Davis said. “This was the exception, not the norm.”
There are officially no reported injuries at this time although an investigation will likely be carried out. In the near future it's expected all flights will be accompanied by American fighter jets in order to show strength towards China.
