Russians find Egypt Warm to Friendly Ties with Moscow

The Russian Defense Ministry revealed that Russian and Egyptian paratroopers will hold joint tactical exercises in the territory of Russia in September. First Deputy Commander of the Airborne Troops, Lieutenant-General Nikolai Ignatov said in an interview with RIA Novosti Chief of Staff.

The message, which was delivered on Thursday, said that the planned drills of airborne troops of Russia and the Armed Forces of Egypt will be held in the Russian Federation for the first time”.

The military officials revealed that Russia and Egypt have agreed on the theme and conditions of joint training exercises.

“Russian paratroopers have held a number of working meetings with military experts from Egypt on one of the airborne troops’ ranges of Russia, in the Krasnodar region. There they familiarized themselves, in particular, with an airborne training of Russian "blue berets",” the document says.

The two countries held joint military drills involving airborne troops on Egyptian soil for the first time in November last year. The drills were called “Protectors of Friendship-2016”, they involved 500 troops, 15 planes and helicopters and 10 military hardware units.

The exercise, which was the first-ever joint naval exercise in the Mediterranean included the Black Sea fleet’s flagship Moskva missile cruiser. The airborne delivery by parachute of several Russian airborne.

The Kremlin has been unleashing aerial bombing campaign in Syria for the past year in support of the Syrian government, part of the multi-front war that has claimed some 300,000 lives.

The Russian paratroopers have already participated in four joint tactical exercises. This year is also planned the visit by a Russian delegation Airborne in more than 10 countries for consultations on mutual cooperation.
