While ‘Dirty Dancing’ may be one of the most iconic films in history, it's emotional and aesthetic scenes are quite dangerous, as one British couple recently became aware of.

Andy, 51, and Sharon Price, 52, are both major fans of the film. They love it so much they attempted to recreate Patrick Swayze infamous lift from the’ Dirty Dancing’ set and it almost ended in tragedy when they knocked themselves unconscious.

The pair were immediately transported for emergency medical treatment. Pictures show the duo practicing the famous moment together at the Cabot Court Hotel in Weston Super Mare, in order to recreate it for their upcoming wedding next year.

However unlike in Hollywood, Sharon didn't end gracefully in the air above Andy’s head. The lovebirds were left knocked out on the floor with Sharon gasping for air herself while Andy was completely unconscious.

A spokesman for the South Western Ambulance Service confirmed that the two were brought to Southmead Hospital in Bristol suffering from head and back injuries.

When speaking to Sharon at the hospital she stated, “It’s fair to say it didn’t go to plan. When I ran at Andy he tried to lift me, but we just collided. At first, our family thought we were just messing about but they soon realised we had actually really hurt ourselves.”

She added, “The paramedics were pretty worried about Andy and cut his t-shirt off and blue-lighted him up to Southmead Hospital.”

The couple, who are both grandparents to their own families, are set to tie the knot sometime next year.

Sharon said in closing, “All I could hear was the paramedics saying he was going in and out of consciousness. Our feet were still entwined and they had to separate us. We were both badly bruised but we’re alright now. I think we’re going to go for a slow one for our first dance.”
