A Phillipsburg, Ohio Police Officer was initially arrested and transported for detainment into the Montgomery County jail after being accused of raping two women while still in his police uniform.
Justin Sanderson, 33, is the suspect in what the victims claim to be a brutal rape that occurred at the Knights Inn motel in Vandalia, Ohio.
The two victims state that Officer Sanderson attacked them and forcefully raped them both at the motel room last month, according to prosecutors.
According to the police report, the two women went to the Knights Inn on Poe Ave. in Vandalia June 28th to meet with an adult male with whom they'd agreed to have sex.
The report states that Officer Sanderson, while still in uniform, went into the room using a key card and forced himself upon the women.
Upon a pending investigation and a risk to his safety Officer Sanderson was released from the Montgomery County Jail temporarily, while the investigation continues into the alleged assault, prosecutors say.
Detectives from multiple agencies and internal affairs will likely pick up the current investigation to determine what exactly occurred and if they find suitable evidence Officer Sanderson will be formally charged and arraigned.
Lieutenant Kurt Althouse of the Vandalia Police Department said that the women claimed the uniform was one of Ohio State University Police, but Sanderson has no connection to that department.
Lt. Althouse also said that police were already beginning to look at Sanderson as a possible suspect when on Thursday night, a Vandalia officer on patrol, happened to come upon a Phillipsburg police cruiser in the parking lot of the Knights Inn. Officers then approached him and made the initial arrest.
As of this time there are no charges pending, and there remains to be any word as to whether or not officer Sanderson will face suspension or any disciplinary action from the police department.
