Huma Abedin played a huge role in the presidential run of Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton. A long-time aide to Clinton, she contributed to the crushing and humiliating loss of Hillary. She might have lost the election, though, but she has gained more than $50,000 for her months of effort to the devastating loss and continued to earn even after the said defeat.
Federal Election Commission filings indicate that Abedin collected more than $50,000 from Clinton’s campaign from mid-November to the end of March this year- the time of the latest available filings.
The report says Abedin received 12 checks ranging from $2,316.06 to $6,005.45 and was also paid hundreds for her phone and travel expenses.
Other Clinton aides continued to receive compensation as of late March including Nick Merrill, Hillary’s former press secretary.
Donald Trump’s campaign committee has likewise continued to pay staffers, including John Pence, the nephew of Vice President Mike Pence. But the difference is that President Trump has filed for re-election and has been pulling millions into his campaign committee for the 2020 reelection bid. At least, they have a legitimate campaign to take care of, and for staff to be properly compensated for.
It is not clear, however, what Abedin and others in the Hillary team were busy of, for them to continue to draw salaries, given the humiliating loss of Hillary. It has not been announced in definite terms if Hillary has plans of running again-in spite of her failed attempt at the presidency twice- and if ever, for what position.
Could Abedin and colleagues as the staff of Hillary being compensated for their “resist” efforts against President Trump?
Abedin also happens to be in the midst of filing for divorce from disgraced former Rep. Anthony Weiner over a sex–related scandal involving a minor. In spite of losing not just the Hillary campaign big time, but tragically her marriage as well looks like Abedin is, at least, gaining somewhere else: money-wise.
