A 25-year-old Florida woman has been charged with child abuse and arrested as authorities said she gave birth to a child fathered by an 11-year-old.
Marissa Ashley Mowry now faces a charge of sexual battery on a child younger than 12, according to the statement of Hillsborough County Sheriff’s officials. A police report also says that Mowry was 22 years old when she started having sex with the boy near Tampa.
Mowry got pregnant not long after and gave birth in October 2014. Officials say she and the boy continued to engage in “sexual intercourse” multiple times when he was between the ages of only 11 and 14 years old.
Mowry’s child from her “relationship” with the boy had been placed under the care of a responsible adult. Mowry is being held now without bond. It is unclear if she has a lawyer to defend her.
It is also not clear at this point whether the young boy and his child from Mowry have been in contact.
