Pence Takes Over The Lead Role In Trump's Transition Team

Proving its desire to focus and gets things done smoother- and faster- President-Elect Donald Trump appoints his Vice President-Elect Gov. Mike Pence as Chairman of his transition team, along with other reshuffles and additions to his group.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie slid down to the vice-chair post and will remain in the transition team's executive committee sharing responsibilities with Ben Carson, retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani and Sen. Jeff Sessions.

There has also been a reported increase in Sen.Jeff Sessions' influence. The Alabama Senator is known for being a strong and vocal critic of illegal immigration.

One of the biggest changes in the composition and designation of roles in the transition team is the elevation of Rick Dearbon, chief of staff of Sen. Sessions in his Washington office, into the post of transition director. Dearbon replaced Rich Bagger, a close ally of Gov. Christie.

Vice President-Elect Pence shared that the transition team is composed of the right people that will help incoming President Trump bring about fundamental change in Washington. He lauded the experience of the individual members of the team, and said they look forward to working with elected officials and volunteers to prepare Trump's government for the transfer of power on January 20.

It's going to be serious work for the transition team as part of their functions is to also help out Trump fill up or identify candidates for 15 cabinet posts, around 1,000 top positions that need to be confirmed by the Senate, as well as of course prepare for his inauguration ceremonies.

Trump's campaign manager Kellyanne Conway will now serve as senior adviser to the transition team. Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner will also be in the executive committee, along with Trump adult children. Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus will also help out, along with a host of other Republican lawmakers and donors.

In a statement, President-Elect Donald Trump said that the mission he set out for his transition team is clear: assemble the most highly qualified group of successful leaders who will help his change agenda in Washington. The team and would-be excellent recruits would assist the incoming President with the urgent task of rebuilding the nation as he puts emphasis on jobs, security and opportunity.
