Trump, White House Feel Vindicated Against ‘Fake’ Media with CNN Controversy

President Donald Trump is winning the war against “fake” media. The White House appears to be celebrating the resignation of three CNN journalists over a retracted story as vindication against the biased and harsh treatment they feel President Trump has been getting from the embattled news organization.

CNN accepted the resignations of journalists Thomas Frank, Eric Lichtblau and Lex Harris late Monday over their web story last week claiming that Trump aide Anthony Scaramucci’s pre-inaugural meeting with the head of a Russian investment fund. The network has since retracted the story on Friday and has apologized to Scaramucci.

No one felt more vindicated than Trump who has always felt he was a victim of CNN’s unfair and malicious coverage and treatment of him since he started his presidential campaign. The President wasted no time in tweeting his reaction to the story retraction and resignation of CNN journalists. He posted: “They caught Fake News CNN cold. CNN is looking at big management changes now that they got caught falsely pushing their phony Russian stories. Ratings way down!”

Deputy White House press secretary Sarah Sanders also took the press briefing earlier today to blast CNN. She accused CNN of “being a disgrace to journalism.” She encouraged everyone to take a look at the undercover video of Project Veritas where a producer from CNN suggested that the news media are sensationalizing its coverage of the Russian-collusion story.

Sanders said: “There’s a video circulating now, whether it’s accurate or not, I don’t know but I would encourage everyone in this room and frankly, everybody across the country, to take a look at it. I think if it is accurate, I think it is a disgrace to all of media, to all of journalism.”

Sanders added her own stinging observation on mainstream media: “I think we have gone into a place where if the media can’t be trusted to report the news, then that’s a dangerous place for America.”

The sting video published online on Monday night showed CNN producer John Bonifield who covers medical issue saying “I just feel like they really don’t have it proof of collusion) but they don’t want to keep digging. And so I think the President is probably right to say ‘Look you are witch hunting me.’
