The Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama, has given reports that there is an active shooter situation ongoing at the Military Installation.
A tweet from The Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville issued the alert on of a “possible active shooter on the Arsenal.”
A represent from the Arsenal, Christopher Colter, said, “The location of the incident has not been determined though people inside the arsenal said it is in the Sparkman Center.”
Colster went on to say there are no reported injuries at this time but the situation is still ongoing. “Installation is on lockdown. Run, hide, fight,” he said.
Republican Representative for Alabama, Robert Aderholt, said he and his staff are monitoring the situation. “My staff and I are monitoring situation at Redstone Arsenal. Please join me in praying for the safety of everyone on base,” he said on his Twitter account.
Entry and security gates are closed and the public is advised to avoid the area. Employees are being advised to take shelter immediately in whatever place they are located.
Redstone Arsenal has more than 40,000 employees spread out over a sprawling 30,000 acre facility. The vast majority of people on the arsenal are civilians with less than 1,500 uniformed personnel.
