The Republican Party celebrated a huge win on Wednesday after tits frontrunner Donald Trump was declared as the new president of the United States. After coming from a very controversial presidential race, Trump called for unity among the various political factions in the country during his victory speech.

Trump’s victory was considered as a solid win for the entire GOP after the business mogul managed to secure the electoral votes in almost all of the swing states in the country. Gaining a huge lead from his rival Hillary Clinton, Trump was able to attain over 270 electoral votes.

After Trump reached 270, which was the required number of electoral votes to be considered as the winner, he immediately received a call from Clinton who then congratulated him and conceded. In response, Trump praised his political rival for her service to the country as secretary of state and for the tight campaign that she ran.

As Trump addressed his supporters, he promised to uphold unity under his administration. As president, he will aim to treat everyone fairly.

“To all Democrats, Republicans, Independents across this nation, I say it is time for us to come together as one united people,” he said in his speech according to The Hill. “For those who chose not to support me in the past, of which there are a few people, I’m reaching out to you for your guidance and your help so we can reach out and unify our great country.”

“While we will put Americans’ interest first, we will deal fairly with everyone,” he added.

Trump celebrated his glorious victory on stage with his family headed by his wife and the new First Lady of the United States, Melania Trump. He was also joined by his running mate Mike Pence, who was credited for maintaining his composure and credibility amidst all of the controversies and issues that plagued their campaign.
