Trump Elated Over Republican Win in Special Congressional Elections

President Donald Trump has shared how elated he is of Republican Karen Handel’s win in the Georgia’s 6th District Special Congressional election over Democrat Jon Ossoff by taking to Twitter to relay his congratulations to Handel.

Trump posted a message on Twitter Tuesday night to congratulate Handel and also said: “we are all very proud of you!” In another tweet, the President also congratulated Republican Ralph Norman who emerged victorious in a special congressional election in South Carolina.

Trump could not hide his pleasure over the twin wins of Republicans that he made another follow-up tweet “gloating” over the positive developments for his party. He said: “the special elections are over and those that want to MAKE AMERICAN GREAT AGAIN are 5 and 0! All the Fake News, all the money spent=0.”

The Georgia election is especially dramatic and significant since it is nationally watched as observers and critics said it can serve as a referendum on Trump’s first few months of presidency.

The Democrats also thought they could capitalize on what they believe was a case of Trump “underperforming” in the presidential election in Georgia. Other analysts also viewed the said special election as a good preview of the midterm elections next year.

The Georgia battle between Handel and Ossoff proved to be the most expensive of its kind in history, with the campaign expenses expected to hit the $50 million mark.

Handel’s victory also means Republicans held all four of their seats that were in contention in special elections this spring, proving that Trump indeed has something to be happy about.

Handel also made history of her own, becoming the first woman to represent Georgia in Congress. Ossoff, on the other hand, becomes another Democrat who ran a strong and well-funded special election campaign- but still lost.
