James Hodgkinson, delusional Bernie Supporter and vicious shooter of the Congressional Baseball Practice has an entire list dedicated to targeting GOP members, officials have said.
After opening fire on Republican lawmakers in Alexandria, Virginia, on Wednesday and then being killed, James Hodgkinson was found to be carrying a handwritten list of House Republicans' names.
Officials who were briefed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation have stated that the list included Representative Trent Franks of Arizona, Repr4 Jeff Duncan of South Carolina, Representative Mo Brooks of Alabama and others who officials would not reveal.
Frank's however was not on the baseball team, adding uncertainty to the shooter's motives or even if he had planned to attack that specific event at all.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation checked his laptop, cell phone and a camera belonging to James Hodgkinson. After investigation they found on those devices supporting evidence that indicated he had been scouting multiple targets for an attack. They're not certain if he had a plan at all or just had the mindset to kill on that date.
Representative Steve Scalise is still listed as being critical condition, but his health is improving, the Congressman's surgeon said. These are great signs only being two days after Scalise was shot at a practice for the Congressional Baseball Game.
Scalise, 51, was originally in very dire condition he was first shot due to internal bleeding, however doctors now say the bleeding is under control and the prognosis is positive.
Jack Sava, Director of Trauma at MedStar Washington Hospital Center said, “I think that an excellent recovery is a good possibility.” Encouraging signs for the family and friends of Representative Scalise.
Although it's still not known for certain if Scalise was targeted directly for being the House of Representatives' Number 3 most powerful Republican leader, it is certain that he's fortunate to have survived after he was in grave condition when first shot.
Others wounded critically in the shooting included Lobbyist Matt Mika who was shot multiple times and remains hospitalized. Also hurt but released from hospitals were two Capitol Police officers, David Bailey and Crystal Griner, and House GOP aide Zack Barth.
In a televised message to a American public genuinely shocked by the reckless act of a left wing radical, President Donald Trump said Friday that Steve Scalise “took a bullet for all of us.”
The vicious nature of the attack at a suburban Virginia park on Thursday by shooter James Hodgkinson, led investigators working the case to come to the conclusion he had obtained his rifle and handgun from licensed firearms dealers. Capitol Police also said they had "no evidence to suggest that the purchases were not lawful."
James Hodgkinson, hailing from Belleville, Illinois, was a home inspector who had been living out of his van near the park. It is also widely known he had a social media page filled with criticism of Republicans and the Trump Administration also expressing great praise for Bernie Sanders.
He died after officers in Scalise's security detail and local police fired at him fatally wounding the shooter. Scalise was fielding ground balls at second base Wednesday when he was shot at a practice for the annual Republicans-Democrats baseball game.
Since the shooting there has been great debate as to how to better increase security to protect citizens and representatives of Congress to prevent another devastation from ever occurring again.
