Italy - EU Fumes As Salvini Parliament Passes ‘Anti-Migrant’ Bill Making Deportations Easier

||| La Republicca Italiano.png |||

The Italian parliament, where the populist parties of Mr. Matteo Salvini’s Lega Nord and Mr. Luigi Di Maio’s Five Star Movement have a majority, passed a decree which would make it easier to deport migrants and strip them of their Italian citizenship.

The measure now needs the backing of lawmakers and an approval of the Italian Senate but given the makeup of politicians loyal to Mr. Salvini, this is seen as more of an administrative delay than anything else.

The Interior Minister and still Italy’s most popular politician, Mr. Matteo Salvini claimed the measure would be "a step forward to make Italy safer."

During a long BBC interview over the weekend for the Hardtalk magazine, where he was criticized for having said before the election he would like to expel as many immigrants as possible, but that this wasn’t possible, Mr Salvini explained that he would do this in a legal manner and through agreements with many of the North African nations.

Italy has over half a million African immigrants waiting to be approved for asylum. Most of them are on the island of Sicily which is the nearest to the African coastline.

With this decree, however, migrants living already in Italy can now be expelled if they are found guilty of serious crimes such as rape and assault. Furthermore, any asylum seeker accused of drug dealing will have their applications automatically denied.

The move comes just as the migrant rescue ship Aquarius and Mr. Salvini are once again locked in a battle over the drop-off of migrants rescued at sea.

Just yesterday authorities on the ship, run by a French NGO, stated they assumed that pressure from Italy had made Panama, under whose flag there are licensed to operate, revoke their documents.

Mr. Salvini had declared that he ‘didn’t even know the prefix of Panama’ and that the Aquarius ‘could dock anywhere in Europe they would like, as long as it is not Italy.’

The latest legal move by the Italian government did not please the EU Commission who just last week slapped Hungary with a warning for their treatment of asylum seekers. A spokesperson for the EU has stated they will officially react later this week and for now will go through the text of Mr. Salvini’s decree.

Thank God someone in Europe has the sense to see how dangerous this savages are and how little they contribute to society, other than the rapes, murders, car attacks, bombings, drug dealing, etc. Let them do that in their own shitholes. Send them all back.
