A civilian contractor once employed at Hanscom Air Force Base, in Burlington, Massachusetts, is under arrest for the possession of over 3000 files of child porn, and federal prosecutors say he is connected to an international website; which distributed child pornographic material across the globe.

Federal law enforcement says he was found in possession of thousands of files of child pornography in addition with a guide designed to serve as an instruction manual teaching adults how to have sex with children.
According to<a href="https://www.wcvb.com/article/child-porn-suspect-claims-he-took-photos-while-chaperoning-field-trip/23015782"> local ABC News affiliate Channel 5 WCVB</a>, the case began last November.

At that time, federal authorities in Boston were contacted by their Australian counterparts; about an image hosting website known to host child pornography.
As part of their undercover operation, they were monitoring the website, according to Australian Federal Police Commissioner Mick Keelty, which we will explain shortly, as reported by<a href="https://abcnews.go.com/International/story?id=5004185&page=1"> ABC News</a>.
At the conclusion of those cases, the Australian Federal Police had identified a user posting sexually explicit photographs of a 6-year-old boy on a school bus.
That suspect would also leave perverse and lewd comments, suggesting that if a man he was into homosexual pedophilia. The user said the child was on a field trip, in which the user was chaperoning, and secretly filming the boy.
Thanks to the assistance of Australia’s authorities for the IP ranges, the Boston division of HSI were able to track down numerous pedophiles, all within the vicinity of the Massachusetts area.
The first, a math teacher at Narragansett Regional High School, in Templeton, 26-year-old Warren Anderson; was arrested for receiving and possessing child pornography, as reported by the<a href="https://www.bostonglobe.com/metro/2018/08/22/math-teacher-arrested-child-porn-charges/CGHHvhneNFWDqNOLT594tK/story.html"> Boston Globe</a>.
In that raid, Special Agents found the identity of another pedophile, who Anderson was conversing with about the six-year-old child in question.
HSI Agents then knew they'd uncovered a trail, which would begin leading towards the primary target.
In the city of Burlington, authorities were determined to try and rescue the young child, as well as any future children, from the clutches of a sick pedophile.
Homeland Security Special Agents arrived at the workplace of 41-year-old William Gates, who they believed was their suspect, and brought him in for an interview.
Gates openly admitted to using his iPhone to take several photographs of the six-year-old child and said it happened while he chaperoning a field trip.
On the day he recorded the images of the young boy, the child's entire elementary classroom was visiting the zoo, Gates told the Agents.
At that time, HSI took Gates into custody for his admission of guilt and then took a search warrant to his home, where they would hunt for additional evidence.
Inside the home, a laptop, several tablet computers, a desktop computer, a mobile phone, and multiple cameras with SD Cards were taken as evidence and sent to the US Attorney's crime lab for analysis.
Originally, the forensic analyst had uncovered more than 900 child pornographic images and videos of young children engaged in non-consenting sexual relations with adults, although the analyst was unable to access more than 90% of the files due to encryption.
The HSI Agents then charged Gates with Possession of Child Pornography, where he sat behind bars for several months; before being granted a bond thanks to the efforts of a liberal judge in Massachusetts.
Gates was shockingly able to roam freely about society, where he remained a risk to the community.
He was prohibited from having any unsupervised visits with children under age 18; banned from working or volunteering with children and ordered not to photograph children; ordered to stay off the internet unless he has supervision and a work-related purpose, as per the Judge’s decision.
To Gates, he was living easy, <i>until this last August,</i> when a Middlesex County Grand Jury returned a federal indictment against him.
The US Attorney’s Office, per Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan's Office, would then make a strong argument for Gates to remain in the custody of the Middlesex County Jail in New Brunswick.

In federal court, a sensible Judge made the right decision, and he ordered Middlesex County to hold Gates; accompanied by a full review of Gates’ childhood and past.
Miraculously, a new method of accessing the data on the hard drives would be used during Gates exit from custody, and that would lead Federal Agents to find an additionally encrypted folder on Gates compute, according to<a href="https://patch.com/massachusetts/burlington/child-porn-defendant-took-photos-while-chaperoning-field-trip"> Patch</a>.
The folder contained approximately 2,900 images, as well as 70 videos; all of which contained child pornographic depictions, which were of prepubescent children being sexually abused and assaulted by adults.
Federal prosecutors said the encrypted folder was hidden, as reported by<a href="https://www.wcvb.com/article/child-porn-suspect-claims-he-took-photos-while-chaperoning-field-trip/23015782"> local ABC News affiliate Channel 5 WCVB</a>; along with a manual titled, “How To Practice Child Love.”
As part of the review, US Attorney's would discover that Gates had orchestrated a masterful scheme; to infiltrate the ranks of both the Burlington Public Schools Superintendent and the Boy Scouts of America vis their Cub Scouts program.
Burlington Public Schools Superintendent Eric Conti sent children home with a note to parents that outlined the reality of the situation, reassuring them that they shouldn't be concerned, it unless they were one of the parents contacted after the trip.
"While forensics is ongoing, at this time there is no evidence the local children mentioned from the field trip have been depicted in child pornography photos. If such evidence arises, the families will be notified by the Burlington Police Department. The families of the children in the photos mentioned have all been contacted by the Burlington Police Department," Conti said.
"When notified by the Burlington Police Department of the initial investigation in January of 2018, Mr. Gates was issued a "no trespass" order by the school district,” Conti added. “As per School Committee policy, Mr. Gates had received a clear criminal background check prior to his chaperoning the field trip mentioned in the US Attorney's press release."
William Gates was also a former Cub Scout 105 leader in Burlington.
Cub Scout Pack 105 Burlington sent a letter to parents saying Gates had resigned from his leadership of Pack 105 in December of 2017 and had not attended any Pack or Den events since his resignation.
“Our Executive Leaders spoke to our Council Leaders and were advised that these were only allegations, therefore, any communication within our Pack could have legal ramifications. In light of this, we took our own internal measures to address the safety of all of our children,” Cub Scout Pack 105 said in the letter.
The Cub Scouts said Gates was removed from the Pack 105 Charter and Leadership Team, notified to not attend any Scouting events, including Pack Meetings, and arrangements were made to ensure that Gates was not in attendance at any Tiger or Wolf meetings and events, as those are his children's dens.
"These are not children in passive poses," Keelty told local television. "You will see more arrests, the investigations are continuing."
A stunning 12 million international ”hits” came to the website, which over the period of three days were tracked and identified images of young girls from eastern Europe, the United States and Paraguay.
Australian and United States authorities were able to trace the account activity to IP addresses assigned to Gates's home in Burlington, and to Hanscom Air Force Base.
Hanscom is where Gates was a civilian employee at the time, so they knew they had their wanted pedophile.
Gates was then arrested and later indicted on five counts of conspiracy to produce child pornography, and possession of child pornography, both federal crimes, in which Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan will prosecute.
William Gates could face a sentence of no greater than 20 years in prison per count, a minimum of five years and up to a lifetime of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000.
Sentences are imposed by a federal district court judge based upon the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.
Gates in prison if convicted, but that was only the beginning of Homeland Security’s hunt.
As<a href="https://abcnews.go.com/International/story?id=5004185&page=1"> ABC News </a>reported, at least 70 arrests happened in Australia as per the this raid.

John Reynolds, the Special Agent in Charge for United States Department of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), said that among the arrests were Hollywood actors, community leaders, and even clergy members.
One of those clergy members was an Australian monk, who traveled from Australia to Los Angeles to complete a deal to buy a 6-year-old boy for sex, according to the U.S. attorney's office in Los Angeles.

She had discovered a secret stash of child pornographic images and videos of prepubescent children engaged in forced sexual assault with adults on her husband’s computer.

All of these arrests were due to one pedophile being caught, and it snowballed downhill into an international child pornographic distribution ring takedown.
